The event was organized by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture. It highlighted the importance of land restoration and the urgent need for international cooperation to manage droughts and their impacts on communities and the environment.

Focus On Land Restoration

The session emphasized the significance of land rehabilitation. Participants discussed strategies to restore degraded lands, increase soil fertility, and protect ecosystems. These measures are essential for sustaining agriculture, preserving biodiversity, and supporting environmental health.

Addressing Drought Challenges

Drought was highlighted as a critical global issue affecting water resources, food security, and economic stability. Experts and officials shared insights on how to build resilience, manage water efficiently, and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on vulnerable communities.

Enhancing Global Cooperation

A key aim of the event was to strengthen international collaboration. Al-Jubeir and other participants explored ways to advance the global environmental agenda through shared knowledge, coordinated programs, and partnerships across countries and organizations.

Financing And Integrated Programs

The session also focused on financial solutions and integrated programs to support land restoration and drought resilience. Ensuring sustainable funding and effective implementation of environmental initiatives is crucial to benefiting both society and the natural environment.

Importance For Communities

Restoring land and preparing for drought has direct effects on communities. Healthy ecosystems improve water availability, food production, and public health. The session stressed that environmental efforts must go hand-in-hand with social and economic development to achieve lasting impact.

Saudi Leadership In Environment

By participating in the UN drought session, Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its commitment to environmental protection and climate action. Al-Jubeir’s involvement highlights the country’s efforts to lead international cooperation on critical issues like drought and land restoration.
