Saudi Minister Strengthens Mining Collaboration at GEOMIN 2025

Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, held two important meetings with global and local mining leaders during the inaugural GEOMIN 2025 Symposium in Jeddah. The meetings aimed to enhance cooperation in the mining sector and explore joint opportunities for research, innovation, and advanced technologies.

Discussion with SEG Leaders

In his meeting with the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), Alkhorayef focused on fostering collaboration in mining exploration research. Discussions included adopting global best practices in geophysical surveys and advancing human capital through specialized training programs. Plans for ongoing collaboration during the GEOMIN Symposium were also addressed.

Meeting with Technical Development Solutions

Alkhorayef also met with officials from Technical Development Solutions (TDS) to explore cooperation in advanced mining technologies. The discussion emphasized innovative smart solutions aimed at improving operational efficiency and promoting sustainability across the Kingdom’s mining sector.

Participation of Key Mining Leaders

Both meetings were attended by Eng. Abdullah Al-Shamrani, CEO of the Saudi Geological Survey, along with other key figures from the Kingdom’s mining ecosystem. Their participation highlighted the strategic importance of these discussions in shaping Saudi Arabia’s mining future.

GEOMIN 2025 Symposium Launch

The 2025 GEOMIN Symposium officially commenced in Jeddah, featuring a distinguished group of global geological experts and researchers. The event serves as a platform for dialogue on the future of mineral exploration, technological advancements, and research innovation in the mining sector.

Focus on Innovation and Sustainability

A central theme of the symposium is the adoption of innovative and sustainable mining practices. Experts and stakeholders discussed methods to integrate technology, enhance productivity, and minimize environmental impact while boosting the sector’s global competitiveness.

Strengthening International Cooperation

Through these strategic meetings and the symposium, Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen international partnerships, exchange expertise, and attract global investment in mining. This aligns with broader national goals of economic diversification and sustainable industrial development.

The Minister emphasized the Kingdom’s commitment to advancing its mining sector through research, innovation, and smart technologies. These initiatives aim to position Saudi Arabia as a leading hub for mineral exploration and development in the region.
