Saudi Arabia Strengthens Transport Ties at UNCTAD Summit

Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser began an official visit to Switzerland to join the Kingdom’s delegation at the 16th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) in Geneva. The conference is held under the theme “Shaping the Future: Driving Economic Transformation for Equitable, Inclusive, and Sustainable Development.” This participation reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to strengthening its role in global trade and transport.

Saudi Arabia aims to foster international collaboration in transport and logistics through this conference. The country seeks to share knowledge, adopt global best practices, and enhance trade facilitation, especially in maritime transport. The focus is on developing infrastructure, improving logistics services, and promoting sustainable economic growth in line with global standards.

Minister Al-Jasser is set to participate in a ministerial roundtable discussion focused on supply chains and logistics services. The session will emphasize improving resilience and efficiency in supply networks to support international trade. Enhancing the reliability of supply chains is a key objective to ensure smooth movement of goods and services globally.

During the UNCTAD session, Al-Jasser will hold meetings with fellow ministers and CEOs from around the world. These discussions aim to strengthen collaboration in transport and logistics sectors, identify opportunities for partnerships, and explore new initiatives to boost trade efficiency. Such engagements help Saudi Arabia learn from international experiences while contributing its expertise.

Saudi Arabia’s participation aligns with its vision for sustainable economic development. Sharing its own successes in infrastructure and logistics further positions the Kingdom as a regional leader in trade facilitation.

Through this UNCTAD session, Saudi Arabia aims to strengthen its international presence in transport and logistics. Minister Al-Jasser’s engagement with global experts, ministers, and business leaders will support the Kingdom’s strategic goals of economic diversification, infrastructure development, and sustainable trade. The outcomes of the conference are expected to guide future initiatives and collaborations in the sector.
