Abu Dhabi Prepares for 2026 Masters Games Featuring 1,000 Seniors

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Abu Dhabi is gearing up for a significant event as the Open Masters Games 2026 announces that 1,000 seniors will participate, supported by the Family Development Foundation via Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs. This announcement came during the 8th Forum for Senior Citizens, held in conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons.

This initiative underscores a commitment to active ageing and community involvement, aligning with the Masters Games' goal to include participants from diverse backgrounds. The competition is open to those aged 30 and above, with swimming available for those 25 and older, promoting participation regardless of skill level and encouraging sustained engagement in sports.

Involving the Family Development Foundation aims to enhance opportunities for older individuals, allowing them to partake in a truly international sporting atmosphere while fostering health, movement, and social connections. The Barakat Al Dar Social Clubs will be instrumental in prepping and motivating senior participants to confidently take part in the Games.

Scheduled from February 6 to 15, 2026, the Open Masters Games Abu Dhabi 2026 will stand as the most extensive international multi-sport event ever hosted in the Middle East, with over 25,000 athletes competing across more than 30 sports, including six traditional heritage sports that honor the UAE’s rich cultural heritage.

With its inclusive initiatives and diverse sports offerings, the Abu Dhabi Masters Games aims to foster community unity, enhance social wellbeing, and solidify the capital's emerging reputation as a leading global sports destination.
