Sharjah is enhancing its approach to security training with innovative programs at the Sharjah Police Academy (SPA). His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, presided over the Academy’s Council meeting, reaffirming its dedication to quality, innovation, and practical training.
During the meeting, the focus was on the Academy’s ongoing mission to build a robust model for security education that merges high-quality instruction with practical applications. Leadership commended the staff for their contributions to academic excellence, research, and training initiatives that align with Sharjah’s strategic vision.
Enhancing Educational and Training Programs
Key discussions revolved around initiatives aimed at improving both academic and hands-on training features. Notable among these was the counter-terrorism program developed with France’s RAID unit, which provided advanced training in crisis management, tactical operations, and assessment shooting.
The Academy is also embracing digital solutions with its Virtual Centre for Education and Training, designed to foster an interactive learning atmosphere through a combination of virtual simulations and practical exercises. Additionally, a new virtual book initiative is underway, aimed at integrating theoretical learning with practical application, thus enhancing student involvement.
Cultural Representation and International Presence
The Academy’s musical band recently showcased the UAE's culture at the Spasskaya International Festival held in Moscow. Their performances not only highlighted Emirati heritage but also showcased the professionalism of SPA’s members, gaining significant international acclaim.
The Council reviewed matters regarding cadet admissions, academic advancements, and proposals to broaden training partnerships. Exceptional students were awarded medals for their accomplishments, underscoring SPA’s commitment to developing future leaders in security and public safety.
Participating in the meeting were Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and Vice Chairman of the Council, alongside senior officials and academic personnel, highlighting a united effort in shaping the upcoming generation of security specialists.
