Sharjah — The Emirate of Sharjah kicked off its 54th Eid Al Etihad (Union Day) festivities at the newly developed Al Layyah Canal, running until December 2. The celebrations, open from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM daily, have attracted both locals and tourists to this lively cultural venue.

This year marks the first occasion Al Layyah Canal has been revitalized to become a festive hub, showcasing a mixture of heritage, fun, and family activities. The area is alive with patriotic fervor, highlighted by traditional Emirati performances that resonate with the local culture. Groups like Al Razfa and Al Ayalah captivated audiences with performances centered around traditional rhythms. Senior community members also shared sentimental reflections on the early days of the UAE during the launch event.

Visitors can look forward to a series of interactive performances designed to engage all ages throughout the week. Local youth initiatives and family enterprises display unique products celebrating Emirati heritage. A standout theatrical show, “Sultan of Sharjah,” put on by the Al-Shaer Band, captivated attendees alongside an illuminating light show that brightened the canal.

For families, dedicated areas for children include play zones and creative workshops that promote artistic expression through craft and drawing, ensuring an enriching experience for younger visitors. The broad layout of the canal facilitates easy navigation and offers space for cultural, artistic, and folk exhibitions, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all.

This week of festivities not only aims to entertain but also seeks to elevate national pride and deepen connectivity among the community. By merging traditional elements with contemporary leisure activities, Al Layyah Canal has established itself as a key locale for cultural engagement and community spirit.

The ongoing celebrations enhance Sharjah’s reputation as a cultural and tourist hotspot. With its engaging activities and a palpable sense of unity, Al Layyah Canal is sure to be a memorable highlight of the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations.
