A pivotal meeting led by the Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council took place at Al Majaz Amphitheatre, focusing on reviewing the performance of various media entities and discussing strategies for enhancing the emirate's media landscape.
Key topics addressed included the assessment of media institutions' performances and aligning future initiatives with the council’s approved strategy for media development in Sharjah.
The Chairman commended the proactive role of media organizations amidst recent regional events. He emphasized their transparency, adherence to strategic plans, and adaptability to evolving situations, showcasing professionalism, credibility, and a vital role in fostering public trust in reliable information.
He acknowledged the significant progress made by media entities in the past year, recognizing their strategic effectiveness in enhancing the media sector's position and promoting better coordination among various organizations for ongoing success.
During the meeting, the council reviewed performance indicators for 2025, revealing an impressive average performance rate of 95% among media entities, reflecting robust cooperation and dedication to achieving strategic objectives and improving institutional effectiveness.
The council also presented its first-quarter report, highlighting updates on media services, including filming permits, commercial media licenses, strategic partnerships, and progress on ongoing media development projects.
Additionally, they reviewed the performance of the Sharjah Broadcasting Authority's channels and platforms, noting significant growth in viewership both locally and regionally. The “Maraya” platform garnered over 10 million app visits, illustrating its content quality and reach.
An update was also provided regarding a newly developed AI-driven media platform by the Sharjah Government Media Bureau, designed to enhance efficiency in content creation, analysis, and media monitoring. This platform features a smart archive, quick search functionalities, and instant access to information, expected to streamline content preparation by 40%, reduce distribution time by 50%, and expedite access to media materials by 70%.
Furthermore, updates were shared on advancements in Sharjah Media City (Shams), including the completion of the design phase for Shams Studios, which will house five production studios, 17 creative units, and dedicated facilities for both production and post-production. The council also reviewed business license growth, the performance of the Shams Business Center, and the success of the second Shams Award for Arabic Content, which attracted 1,210 participants from across the Arab region.
Senior officials and media leaders from various Sharjah media institutions attended the meeting, underscoring collaborative efforts to elevate the emirate’s media sector.
