Sharjah Executive Council Approves New Vehicle and Transport Rules

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, presided over the Executive Council meeting on Tuesday at the Ruler's Office. The session included H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi.

Enhancing Government Efficiency

The meeting focused on improving the efficiency of government departments and monitoring Sharjah’s strategic plans. The council aims to ensure that community services are delivered effectively across different sectors.

New Vehicle Impound Rules

The Council introduced updated rules for vehicle impounds. These rules aim to make the impounding process fairer and more transparent. Specific fees were set to enhance public services and ensure proper management of traffic violations.

Rights of Vehicle Owners

The new regulations allow vehicle owners, or those with legal rights, to request temporary release of their impounded vehicles. By paying a daily fee, they can reclaim their vehicle sooner, depending on the reason for impoundment.

Updated Towing Fees

Sharjah has also implemented new towing fee regulations. These rules help manage broken-down or accident-stranded vehicles efficiently, using modern technology. The goal is to improve road safety and reduce traffic congestion caused by obstructed vehicles.

Agreement with Taxi Companies

The Executive Council approved a new agreement with taxi companies in Sharjah. This initiative seeks to enhance public transportation services, ensuring better safety, comfort, and customer satisfaction.

Unified Standards and Oversight

The taxi agreement introduces unified operational standards and oversight. It encourages private companies to contribute to sustainable transport development and support the overall improvement of Sharjah’s transportation infrastructure.

Focus on Community and Safety

The new measures collectively aim to protect public and private property, improve traffic management, and ensure the community receives reliable and high-quality services.

Through these updates, Sharjah demonstrates its commitment to modernizing public services and transportation systems. The Executive Council continues to prioritize safety, efficiency, and innovation across the emirate.
