His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, attended the Dubai Gaming Retreat organised by the Dubai Media Council.

During the event, His Highness met representatives from 80 leading local and international gaming companies. He was accompanied by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Chairman of the Dubai Media Council.

The retreat brought together government officials and gaming industry leaders to strengthen cooperation, discuss common priorities, and explore new initiatives that will support the future growth of Dubai's gaming sector.

Sheikh Hamdan Highlights Dubai's Vision for the Gaming Industry

Speaking during the retreat, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said Dubai's achievements have always been built on its ability to prepare for the future and turn ambitious ideas into reality.

He said that, under the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the emirate is creating an environment where future industries can grow, talented people can succeed, and businesses based in Dubai can contribute to the next stage of economic development.

He added that the future of the gaming industry depends on strong partnerships between the public and private sectors. According to His Highness, Dubai aims not only to attract the world's leading gaming companies but also to create the right environment for the next generation of global gaming businesses to grow from the emirate.

Sheikh Ahmed Stresses Gaming's Role in Dubai's Economy

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said Dubai continues to strengthen its media sector by investing in industries that are shaping the future.

He described gaming as one of the sector's biggest opportunities, creating new possibilities for talent, investment, and innovation. He said the Dubai Gaming Retreat reflects the emirate's commitment to working closely with industry stakeholders to encourage growth, strengthen partnerships, and build one of the world's most active gaming ecosystems.

He also noted that expanding the gaming sector's contribution to Dubai's economy supports the goals of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 while strengthening Dubai's position as a global centre for digital technologies and the creative economy.

Government Leaders and Industry Representatives Attend

The retreat was attended by Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice Chairperson and Managing Director of the Dubai Media Council; Her Excellency Nehal Badri, Secretary General of the Dubai Media Council; His Excellency Khalfan Belhoul, Chairman of the Dubai Gaming Committee; senior government officials; Hesham Al Olama, Chief Executive Officer of the Dubai Films and Games Commission; and representatives from leading gaming companies, game developers, publishers, esports organisations, and investors.

Mona Ghanem Al Marri: Collaboration Will Shape Gaming's Future

Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri said the success of Dubai's media sector has always been driven by collaboration and innovation.

She said the gaming industry provides an opportunity to build the next chapter of Dubai's media journey by creating a place where new ideas can be developed and transformed into global success stories. She added that one of Dubai's biggest strengths is the growing gaming community, which is united by creativity, cooperation, and the belief that future global gaming companies can emerge from the emirate.

According to her, the Dubai Gaming Retreat offers a platform for this community to work together in shaping the future of the sector.

Five Strategic Priorities Discussed

Discussions during the Dubai Gaming Retreat focused on five key areas that will help guide the future development of Dubai's gaming industry:

  • Talent development

  • Governance and regulation

  • Funding

  • Marketing

  • Infrastructure

These priorities are expected to support future policies, partnerships, and initiatives designed to strengthen Dubai's gaming ecosystem and encourage long-term growth.
