HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatar’s Interior Minister and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Lekhwiya, met with HE US Special Envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, at the National Command Center (NCC) in Doha. The meeting was aimed at discussing important topics of mutual interest and strengthening cooperation on regional and international security issues.
During the discussions, Sheikh Khalifa briefed the envoy about Qatar’s security strategies and ongoing efforts to maintain stability in the region. He explained the role of the NCC, which acts as the central hub for monitoring, command and control, and coordinating security operations across the country. The center is equipped with advanced technology that helps authorities respond quickly to emergencies and manage various security challenges effectively.
Tom Barrack was also given a detailed overview of how the NCC operates to enhance rapid response capabilities. The briefing highlighted how the center integrates multiple security agencies, enabling coordinated actions during critical situations. Barrack praised Qatar’s investment in modern security infrastructure and acknowledged the country’s efforts to ensure public safety and maintain a secure environment for residents and visitors.
The meeting reflected the strong ties between Qatar and the United States in areas of strategic and security cooperation. Both sides discussed opportunities to further improve collaboration on regional security challenges, particularly related to the ongoing conflicts and humanitarian concerns in Syria. The talks emphasized the importance of information sharing, joint planning, and coordinated actions to address potential threats and maintain stability in the region.
Sheikh Khalifa highlighted Qatar’s commitment to maintaining high standards of security while supporting international efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime. He also emphasized the value of continuous communication with global partners to ensure that the country’s security measures remain effective and adaptive to changing circumstances.
The meeting concluded with both leaders agreeing to continue dialogue and cooperation in security matters. Sheikh Khalifa expressed Qatar’s readiness to work closely with international partners to strengthen security networks, improve rapid response systems, and ensure peace and safety in the country and the wider region.
This visit underlines Qatar’s proactive approach to security and its ongoing efforts to build strong international partnerships, ensuring that the nation remains well-prepared to handle emerging threats and challenges in the future.
