UAE President Welcomes IUCN Congress Delegates in Abu Dhabi

UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan welcomed participants of the 2025 International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) World Conservation Congress during a meeting at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi. The UAE is hosting the Congress from 9 to 15 October 2025, bringing together global leaders and experts in environmental conservation.

Meeting with Delegates

H.H. Sheikh Mohamed met with the Congress guests, who were accompanied by Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak, President of the IUCN and Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Nature. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the goals and initiatives of the Congress and the importance of international collaboration in protecting the environment.

Focus on Nature and Biodiversity

During the meeting, the UAE President wished the Congress success in establishing effective mechanisms for the protection of nature and the preservation of biodiversity. He emphasized the importance of raising global awareness of environmental challenges and supporting initiatives that ensure a sustainable future for all.

Delegates expressed their gratitude to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s proactive approach to environmental protection and sustainability. The delegation included Crown Prince Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah, Regent of the Malaysian state of Pahang, along with representatives from various institutions participating in the Congress. The meeting was also attended by several Sheikhs, ministers, and senior officials, demonstrating the high-level support for environmental initiatives in the UAE.
