Al Ain Hosts First Masters 2025 Badminton Championship

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence and Honorary President of the UAE Badminton Federation, inaugurated the first edition of the “Al Ain Masters 2025” badminton championship. The opening ceremony announced the start of six days of world-class competition at Khalifa bin Zayed Hall in Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club. This was a historic day for UAE badminton, as the event marked the launch of a new international tournament in the country.

Presence of Sports Leaders and Fans

The ceremony was attended by major sports figures, including Aref Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council. A large crowd of badminton fans also filled the hall to witness the historic beginning of this tournament. Their presence showed the growing popularity of badminton in the UAE and the strong support for hosting international sporting events.

The opening began with the UAE national anthem, performed by the military band, which filled the venue with pride and unity. After this, a special promotional video was shown, introducing the championship’s mission and vision. The audience was also treated to an impressive performance by members of the UAE national badminton team, who showcased their skills to loud applause from fans.

Recognition of Partners

During the event, Sheikh Nahyan honoured the championship’s strategic partners. These partners played a vital role in making the inaugural edition possible. The recognition highlighted the importance of collaboration between sports organizations, sponsors, and government institutions in hosting successful global sporting events in the UAE.

Federation’s Vision for Growth

On this occasion, Noura Al Jasmi, President of the UAE Badminton Federation, delivered a special message. She said that hosting the first edition of the Masters in Al Ain was a proud and historic moment for the country. She stressed that Al Ain, with its deep cultural heritage and modern facilities, is the perfect place to host international championships. She added that the Federation is working hard to strengthen community involvement in badminton while attracting more global events to the city.

Al Jasmi also explained that the Masters championship is only the beginning of a bigger journey for UAE badminton. Over the next five days, fans will have the chance to enjoy thrilling matches between some of the best players in the world. She expressed pride in the participation of the UAE national team, noting that their involvement reflects the progress made in sports development programmes across the country.

Participation of Global Players

The “Al Ain Masters 2025” will run from 30th September to 5th October at Khalifa bin Zayed Hall. Around 300 players from 38 countries have joined the competition. This includes top-ranked international players as well as rising Emirati talents. Their participation ensures that the matches will be both exciting and competitive, with a wide variety of playing styles on display.

Global Competition in Al Ain

The championship provides a rare opportunity for local fans to see world-class badminton live in their city. It also gives UAE players valuable international exposure and a chance to test themselves against elite competitors.
