In its inaugural edition, the Abu Dhabi Excellence Award for People of Determination Inclusion – Damj, an initiative by the Department of Community Development (DCD), has reported receiving a total of 372 entries from various organizations including government, private, and third-sector entities throughout the emirate.
Launched under the auspices of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council, the award aspires to establish Abu Dhabi as a global leader in inclusive development by implementing internationally recognized standards, innovative programs, and inclusive policies.

Accessibility (Physical and Digital)
This considerable participation underscores that inclusion has become a fundamental value for organizations in Abu Dhabi and showcases the advancements made through the Abu Dhabi Strategy for People of Determination, which emphasizes creating an inclusive environment where equal opportunities are afforded to all.
Supporting Quality of Life and Empowerment
The Damj Award builds on these initiatives by acknowledging institutional collaboration and promoting projects that improve the quality of life for People of Determination and their families. The goal of the award is to enhance their empowerment and participation in various aspects of social, economic, and community life.
Official Statement
Regarding the excellent turnout, Her Excellency Dr. Layla Al Hyas, Executive Director of the Family and Child Welfare Sector at DCD, remarked:
“The numerous entries in the inaugural edition of the Damj Award demonstrate Abu Dhabi's rising consciousness and robust commitment to the inclusion and empowerment of People of Determination.”
She further noted that this success is attributable to the visionary leadership of the UAE and the cooperative efforts of various entities across Abu Dhabi aimed at enhancing inclusion in services, employment, and community engagement.

Dr. Al Hyas commended the Damj Award team for conducting awareness workshops and follow-up efforts, which significantly contributed to educating organizations about the criteria and requirements for participation.
