Somalia and Rwanda Seek Stronger Regional Cooperation

Post by : Shweta

Mogadishu, June 10 — Somalia and Rwanda have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation aimed at promoting security and stability in the region.

According to Somalia's Foreign Ministry, Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali held a telephone conversation Tuesday with Rwanda's Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe. The discussions focused on deepening ties between the two countries and exploring opportunities for broader regional collaboration.

In a statement issued after the call, Somalia's Foreign Ministry said both ministers expressed a shared commitment to advancing relations and increasing cooperation on issues of common interest.

The talks underscored the importance of continued diplomatic engagement between the two African nations as they seek to strengthen political and strategic partnerships.

Although specific areas of cooperation were not disclosed, the two sides emphasized the value of maintaining close coordination in support of regional peace and development.

Security and stability remain key priorities for countries across East Africa and the Horn of Africa, where governments have increasingly pursued partnerships to address common challenges and support economic growth.

Somalia has continued to expand its diplomatic engagement with regional and international partners as the country works to enhance security and strengthen state institutions. Rwanda, meanwhile, has played an active role in regional peace and security initiatives across the African continent.

The latest exchange between the two foreign ministers reflects ongoing efforts by both governments to reinforce cooperation and build stronger diplomatic ties.

African countries have increasingly focused on collaboration through bilateral agreements and regional organizations to address shared concerns, including security, economic development and cross-border cooperation.

The conversation between the Somali and Rwandan foreign ministers highlights the importance both nations place on maintaining dialogue and working together on issues that affect regional peace and stability.

Officials from both countries are expected to continue engaging on areas of mutual interest as they seek to deepen cooperation and strengthen their partnership in the years ahead.
