Thailand Enhances Internet Access for Remote Schools

Post by : Shakul

Thailand’s Ministry of Education is taking steps to enhance internet connectivity and supply computers to remote educational institutions in Chiang Rai Province, addressing educational disparities in rural mountainous regions.

During a visit to Ban Phalang School, Deputy Minister of Education Mr. Akranan Kankittinant and ministry officials examined the challenges faced by these small, secluded schools. They engaged with ethnic minority students and took part in classes focusing on mathematics and Thai language.

Officials highlighted issues, particularly inadequate infrastructure such as unreliable clean water access from mountain supply systems. They have called on relevant agencies to swiftly resolve these water supply challenges to ensure continuous clean water access for students.

The visit also brought to attention the significant technological hurdles in these far-off schools. Many are reported to suffer from unstable internet connectivity and a lack of sufficient computer resources, hindering students' access to modern education and digital resources.

Mr. Akranan announced that the Ministry is now setting plans into motion to expedite internet installation and computer provision in these remote schools, aiming to offer children in mountainous areas equal educational opportunities as their city counterparts.

The authorities believe that enhancing digital access in these schools will enable students to utilize online educational resources effectively, thereby bridging the educational gap between urban and rural environments.

The ministry reiterated that ensuring equitable education access continues to be one of its foremost goals, emphasizing that upgrading infrastructure in remote schools is crucial for improving the lives and future prospects of children throughout Thailand.
