Thailand Initiates Lifelong Learning Model in Nakhon Ratchasima

Post by : Shakul

Thailand's Ministry of Education has unveiled a pioneering plan to establish Nakhon Ratchasima as a national benchmark for lifelong learning, enhancing accessibility in education for all demographics. This endeavor underscores the government's resolve to facilitate adaptable learning avenues that extend beyond conventional schooling and bolster both personal and professional growth throughout life.

The initiative was introduced during a session led by Education Minister Prasert Chantharawongthong along with Deputy Education Minister Akranan Kankittinant, which included officials focused on promoting learning across all 32 districts of Nakhon Ratchasima. The gathering, held at Suranaree University of Technology, aimed to broaden educational access for marginalized populations.

Officials highlighted that the Office of Learning Promotion is pivotal in engaging individuals who have missed formal education, particularly school dropouts, seniors, workers, and those with disabilities. Through community-oriented educational programs, the ministry strives to keep learning relevant and accessible at every stage of life.

A primary focus is tackling the issue of students exiting the formal education system. Recent data shows that over 16,000 children and youths in Nakhon Ratchasima are currently unregistered in education. Authorities aim to collaborate effectively with local communities, NGOs, and private entities to help these individuals reintegrate into education while offering vocational and digital skills training.

A significant aspect of the initiative encompasses enhancing public libraries and science centers to serve as modern community learning hubs. These facilities are intended to be attainable spaces where residents can acquire new skills, enrich their knowledge, and explore opportunities in technology, entrepreneurship, and career growth. Officials are optimistic that these centers will be vital for local educational advancements.

Additionally, the program will launch the "One Year, One Certificate" project targeting specific groups, including military recruits, Buddhist monks, and incarcerated individuals, offering pathways to acquire accredited qualifications and boost their employment opportunities post-training.

The Ministry of Education plans to further advocate for artificial intelligence and digital tools as integral components of learning and workforce enhancement. By incorporating contemporary technology into community educational systems, the aim is to nurture a more inclusive learning atmosphere providing essential skills for a swiftly evolving job market. This initiative is anticipated to position Nakhon Ratchasima as a leading model for how lifelong education can empower communities, enhance employment opportunities, and promote sustainable social progress across Thailand.
