Scandal Erupts in Thailand's Singha Family

Post by : Shakul

Thailand is currently engulfed in a scandal as Siranudh Scott, a member of the prominent Singha beer family, has publicly leveled accusations of sexual abuse against his elder brother. The claims involve incidents that allegedly spanned over a decade, stirring significant discourse on social media and within the nation.

Known as “Psi,” Siranudh shared an emotional video where he requested to no longer be identified as a “Singha heir.” He expressed that the public is unaware of the truths behind his personal battles and family dynamics. He indicated that the alleged abuse commenced when he was just 12 years old and persisted until the age of 24.

At 29, the environmental activist revealed that the occurrences transpired in family homes and severely impacted both his mental health and subsequent personal relationships. He suggested that several family members knew about the situation but failed to intervene despite his cries for assistance.

He also mentioned having evidence supporting his claims, including an audio recording he later published online. According to him, family members had listened to the recording before and were aware of the alleged incidents. Aside from these claims, he shared that ongoing disputes regarding inheritance and property issues with relatives have only heightened family tensions.

This situation has garnered immense public attention as the Bhirombhakdi family, known for their Singha beer empire, represents one of Thailand’s most powerful business lineages. Siranudh stated his desire to distance himself from a family he feels has failed to acknowledge his suffering or provide support during his hardships.

In reaction to the charges, Sunit Scott has vehemently denied his brother's accusations. He shared a video message asserting the claims are entirely false and very distressing for him. While he acknowledged conflicts during their childhood, he categorically denied any form of sexual abuse.

Sunit also discussed the audio recording released by Siranudh, clarifying his unawareness of its secret recording. He mentioned that past attempts had been made to address family discord and that he had previously offered apologies for their disputes.

The allegations have ignited a vigorous public debate in Thailand over family dynamics, mental health awareness, and the difficulties victims face in voicing their experiences against influential families. The topic continues to be a focus of intense discussion across social media platforms within the country.
