The Technology Innovation Institute (TII) in Abu Dhabi has partnered with NVIDIA, a global leader in AI and accelerated computing, to create the Middle East’s first joint lab for artificial intelligence and robotics. The lab, called TII-NVAITC (NVIDIA AI Technology Centre) Joint Lab, will focus on developing advanced AI models, robotics platforms, and humanoid technologies to drive innovation across industries.
Signing Ceremony And Key Leaders
The agreement was signed at TII’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of TII, and Marc Domenech, NVIDIA’s Regional Director for the META region, signed the collaboration. Senior officials from both organizations, including ATRC’s Shahab Abu Shahab and Abdulaziz Al Dosari, were present to mark this milestone in the UAE’s AI and robotics journey.
Boosting Abu Dhabi’s Role In AI And Robotics
The collaboration places Abu Dhabi at the forefront of applied AI, supporting the emirate’s long-term strategy to advance technology and intelligent autonomous systems. It also strengthens the UAE’s position as a global leader in AI and robotics, following initiatives such as the US–UAE AI Acceleration Partnership.
Goals Of The Joint Lab
Dr. Najwa Aaraj said the lab will focus on building AI-powered robotic systems that can reason, adapt, and act in complex environments. By combining TII’s advanced robotics platforms with NVIDIA’s AI computing power, the lab will create a new generation of intelligent machines.
Integrating AI And Robotics
The TII-NVAITC Joint Lab will combine NVIDIA’s accelerated computing platforms with TII’s research in AI, robotics, autonomous systems, and high-performance computing. It will be the first NVIDIA AI Technology Centre lab in the Middle East and the first in the region to integrate robotics research at this scale.
Research And Real-World Applications
The lab will develop intelligent systems with practical uses. This includes robotic learning, control at scale, and large AI models, such as TII’s Falcon family of AI models, which are the largest in the Middle East. The lab will also work on state-of-the-art humanoid robotics and real-time robotic hardware.
Global Collaboration And Innovation
Carlo Ruiz, NVIDIA’s Vice President for EMEA Enterprise Solutions, said this partnership expands NVIDIA’s global network into robotics in the Middle East. The collaboration will help researchers accelerate breakthroughs and create intelligent systems for real-world challenges.
Commitment To Open Innovation
The lab is part of TII’s wider strategy to advance applied AI and robotics with real-world impact. It will support open innovation, global knowledge exchange, and research collaboration, building on TII’s existing robotic platforms like robotic arms and delivery robots.
