Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

In a devastating incident, a bus crash in Indonesia has resulted in the deaths of at least 16 individuals and injured another 18. This tragic event unfolded shortly after midnight on Monday on Java Island.

The passenger bus was en route from Jakarta to Yogyakarta, Indonesia's capital and a renowned historical city, carrying 34 passengers.

As the bus approached a curved exit ramp on the Krapyak toll road in Semarang, Central Java, it lost control, colliding violently with a concrete barrier before rolling onto its side.

The force of the impact caused some passengers to be thrown from their seats while others became trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived approximately 40 minutes after the accident, working rapidly to assist the injured and extricate those stuck inside the bus.

At the scene, six individuals were pronounced dead, while ten more succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital or during treatment.

Eighteen injured passengers were taken to local hospitals, with:

  • Five in critical condition

  • Thirteen sustaining serious injuries

Medical personnel are working diligently to stabilize the patients.

Visuals from the scene depict the yellow bus overturned, with rescue workers, police, and local residents assisting as ambulances transported the injured and deceased away.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to uncover the reasons behind the bus’s loss of control, with updates anticipated soon.

This incident marks one of the deadliest road accidents in recent memory in Indonesia, bringing sorrow to many families.
