UAE Denied Espionage Allegations in Istanbul by Turkey

Post by : Bianca Haleem

Istanbul – Turkey has officially rebuffed allegations regarding UAE's supposed involvement in unauthorized spying within Istanbul, asserting that no evidence ties the Gulf state or its nationals to any illicit activities.

The UAE's Attorney General addressed these claims following discussions with his Turkish counterpart on Thursday. Officials stated that the Turkish Public Prosecution, in collaboration with Istanbul’s security forces, deemed the allegations as “categorially inaccurate.”

Turkish authorities have mandated the removal of all reports and social media content implying UAE participation in ongoing investigations. This action reflects a determination to mitigate misinformation and control the dissemination of groundless claims.

It was emphasized by officials that the Turkish Minister of Justice had already disavowed any links between the UAE and the current investigations, underlining the sanctity of the legal process and the necessity for precise reporting.

In addition to addressing the allegations, both Turkey and the UAE engaged in discussions aimed at bolstering judicial cooperation and improving official communication strategies. Observers believe that this dialogue enhances bilateral trust and ensures the prompt handling of legal and security issues.

Analysts suggest this event highlights the influence of social media speculation on international relations, underscoring the need to verify information via official channels. The proactive measures taken by both nations represent a mutual commitment to transparency and stability in diplomatic interactions.
