The UAE Artificial Intelligence Camp recently concluded its seventh edition, organized by the National Programme for Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with the National Programme for Coders. The camp is designed to prepare young people with skills needed to keep pace with rapid digital transformation. It focuses on equipping participants with the ability to develop and apply AI solutions, supporting innovation and sustainability across important sectors of the UAE economy.

Aim of the AI Camp

The main goal of the UAE AI Camp is to build a generation of future-ready citizens who can use AI and digital technologies effectively. The program teaches participants to create AI applications and solutions that can contribute to progress in areas like healthcare, education, finance, and smart city projects. The camp also aims to nurture creativity, problem-solving, and innovation skills that are essential in a technology-driven world.

Duration and Activities

The camp ran from mid-July to mid-August and included over 70 knowledge sessions. Participants engaged in interactive workshops, including nine virtual sessions, as well as hackathons, challenges, and lectures. These activities were designed to provide a practical, hands-on experience in AI and technology, allowing participants to learn by doing.

Wide Engagement Across Society

The camp welcomed all segments of society. Children, school and university students, young professionals, and AI experts all participated. This wide engagement ensured a comprehensive learning journey covering seven key themes: the future of AI, data science and machine learning, smart applications in education, healthcare, and finance, web and robotics development, AI governance and ethics, cybersecurity, and virtual and augmented reality.

Collaboration with Leading Organizations

The camp was organized in partnership with many government entities, private organizations, and leading technology companies. These included Emirates Global Aluminium, Abu Dhabi Customs, Dubai Police, Dubai Chamber of Digital Economy, Microsoft, Meta, Huawei, Dell Technologies, and many others. These partnerships provided access to the latest technology, expert instructors, and real-world insights for participants.

National Leadership Support

Saqr Binghalib, Executive Director of the Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office, highlighted that the camp is a leading national platform for developing youth digital skills. He explained that the program offers an innovative learning environment where theory meets practical applications, inspiring young people and nurturing a culture of innovation. The camp also aligns with the UAE leadership’s vision that investing in people is the greatest investment for the nation’s future.

Preparing Youth for the Future

The camp focuses on future skills, giving participants a deeper understanding of AI tools and applications. Children, students, and young professionals learn to use AI in ways that can improve their communities and contribute to smarter, more sustainable solutions. Participants are trained to handle AI projects responsibly, ensuring technology is applied in ethical and beneficial ways.

Range of Workshops Offered

The seventh edition of the camp featured workshops on creative AI, AI readiness in government entities, AI agents, leadership in emerging technologies, and future skills. The workshops also explored how AI can contribute to environmental protection, sustainability, education, and other priority sectors. This broad range ensures that participants gain practical knowledge across multiple areas of technology and its societal applications.

Cybersecurity and Awareness Sessions

Cybersecurity awareness was a central part of the camp. Sessions addressed participants of all ages, including children and parents. The workshops focused on both the challenges and opportunities of AI and technology in cybersecurity. Topics included cybercrime, AI security, entrepreneurship, and prompt engineering, giving participants skills to safely navigate the digital world and boost productivity in personal and professional contexts.

Hands-On Learning for Children

One key focus of the camp was interactive, hands-on AI experiences for young learners. Children engaged with robotic kits equipped with AI-powered sensors and cameras, learning how AI responds to real-world inputs. These activities made learning fun and practical, combining education with play. Parents also participated in exercises and interactive games, exploring AI concepts in robotics, storytelling, design, and other technology-related fields. This approach fosters creativity and prepares young learners for future careers in tech.

Encouraging Innovation and Creativity

The camp emphasizes the importance of innovation and creative problem-solving. Participants were encouraged to develop new ideas and projects using AI and technology. Hackathons and challenges provided opportunities to test skills in real-world scenarios, allowing young people to experiment, collaborate, and innovate. These experiences help nurture a generation capable of contributing to the UAE’s digital economy and technological advancements.

Broad Participation and Impact

Since its launch, the UAE AI Camp has attracted strong interest and participation from all segments of society. Over 34,000 participants from different educational backgrounds and age groups joined the camp’s sessions, workshops, and discussions. The wide participation highlights the nation’s commitment to empowering citizens with digital knowledge and preparing the next generation for a technology-driven future.

Focus on AI in Key Sectors

The camp also provided insights on how AI can be applied to various sectors. Participants explored AI in education, healthcare, finance, and smart city projects. They learned how AI can make processes more efficient, solve complex problems, and create sustainable solutions. This sector-focused approach ensures that participants understand both the technical and practical uses of AI in everyday life.
