The Kingdom of Bahrain and the UAE exemplify how close regional ties can yield substantial advancements. Their long-standing brotherly connection, rooted in shared history, has blossomed into one of the strongest and most fruitful alliances in the Gulf.
At the heart of the UAE-Bahrain partnership lies a mutual appreciation for cultural and social values, bolstered by aligned developmental aspirations. This robust foundation has enabled both nations to navigate regional and international challenges together, promoting stability, peace, and sustained growth.
As the UAE celebrates its 54th Eid Al Etihad alongside Bahrain’s National Day, the depth of this relationship is particularly evident. Years of strong people-to-people connections have been complemented by effective diplomatic collaboration, fostering a partnership built on trust and a unified vision.
Prominent among this alliance is economic cooperation. The UAE ranks as one of Bahrain’s top three foreign investors, with total direct investments anticipated to reach AED16.5 billion by 2024, constituting about 10% of Bahrain’s total foreign investments. Trade has mirrored this upward trend, with non-oil trade surging over 182% from 2010 to 2023, increasing from AED9.1 billion to exceeding AED25.7 billion, resulting in total non-oil trade figures of AED231.6 billion between 2010 and 2022.
These investment flows highlight a mutual confidence. Currently, more than 1,500 Emirati investors are active in Bahrain, with over 7,000 holding shares in Bahraini companies. Bahraini investments in the UAE are also substantial, reaching AED5.1 billion by December 2023.
Beyond the financial metrics, the partnership manifests in concrete projects. Emirati firms are executing impactful initiatives in Bahrain across sectors such as energy, industry, healthcare, sustainability, and infrastructure. Additionally, ongoing exchanges of knowledge and skills are enhancing competitiveness and preparing professionals for the jobs of tomorrow within both nations.
In collaboration, the UAE and Bahrain serve as a prime example of how shared values and practical cooperation can yield enduring benefits, reinforcing regional partnerships while paving the way toward mutual prosperity.
