UAE and India Launch Initiative for Trusted Digital Trade Corridor

In a significant development for UAE-India trade relations, Abu Dhabi Customs and India's Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) have signed a statement to usher in a Trusted Digital Trade Corridor as part of the CEPA initiative.

This agreement was formalized during the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum held in Mumbai, with key officials from both nations in attendance. Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Shri Vimal Kumar Srivastava, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Mumbai Zone-II, formalized the deal before prominent UAE representatives.

The agreement underscores a mutual aim to enhance cross-border trade through digital advancements, real-time data sharing, and secure automation. The Trusted Digital Trade Corridor is aimed at streamlining customs processes by merging the trade frameworks of both countries.

This collaboration intends to create a comprehensive technical framework with the backing of public and private stakeholders. The pilot phase will concentrate on establishing a scalable model for efficient digital trade operations, expediting clearances while minimizing manual obstacles.

Officials from both nations expect that the results of this pilot will inform a sustainable system for trusted digital trade corridors, strengthening their economic ties and aiding ongoing customs modernization efforts.
