H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, convened today with Massad Boulos, Advisor to the U.S. President for African and Arab Affairs, in Abu Dhabi. The dialogue centered around the pressing situation in Sudan, focusing on how to bolster regional peace and humanitarian efforts. Key points included the necessity of protecting civilians and ensuring safe channels for aid as the conflict unfolds.
Sheikh Abdullah underscored the harsh consequences of Sudan's civil war, which has persisted for over two years, inflicting pain and instability upon the Sudanese populace. They deliberated strategies to quickly and unconditionally conclude the conflict. Sheikh Abdullah reiterated that the UAE supports all regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving a ceasefire and restoring tranquility, with a primary concern for civilian welfare.
He voiced appreciation for U.S. President Donald Trump's efforts to facilitate long-term stability and security in Sudan, asserting that the UAE backs these initiatives and any measures designed to mitigate the crisis while safeguarding civilian lives. The UAE also promotes a politically-driven, civilian-led approach to resolving the conflict and attaining enduring peace in Sudan.
A significant topic was the imperative to guarantee unrestricted humanitarian assistance for those impacted by the war. Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to global relief efforts, ensuring that Sudanese citizens receive food, medical care, and essential support. Both parties concurred that unity of effort, both regionally and globally, is vital to alleviate the crisis and minimize human suffering.
The conversation also explored the broader strategic relationship between the UAE and the United States, discussing opportunities to bolster cooperation across political, security, and humanitarian domains. This meeting highlighted the significance of maintaining robust bilateral relations, with the UAE playing a trusted role in fostering stability and development throughout the region.
Sheikh Abdullah reaffirmed the UAE’s support for the legitimate aspirations of the Sudanese populace, encompassing security, stability, and a dignified life. Joining the meeting were Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Sheikh Shakhbut bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State. Their attendance signified the UAE’s dedication to diplomacy, humanitarian efforts, and the enhancement of international alliances to resolve conflicts.
