The DP World Tour has officially started the 100-day countdown for two of the biggest golf tournaments of the year. These events will happen in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and are part of the final playoff stage of the DP World Tour season. The two main tournaments are the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Both events are important for professional golf and attract top international players. The UAE has hosted these major events for many years, and this year’s preparations have already begun with great excitement.

Abu Dhabi to Celebrate 20 Years of Golf Glory

The Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship will be held from 6th to 9th November 2025 at Yas Links in Abu Dhabi. This tournament will mark its 20th anniversary this year. It is considered one of the most prestigious international sports events in the Middle East.

The event is organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council together with the DP World Tour. This year’s championship will be the first playoff event of the DP World Tour and will feature the top 70 golfers in the Race to Dubai rankings.

Dubai to Host Season Finale of Golf Tour

After the Abu Dhabi tournament, the season will end with the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. This event will take place from 13th to 16th November 2025 at the Earth Course, located in Jumeirah Golf Estates.

This is the final event in the Race to Dubai—a season-long competition where golfers collect points to be crowned the best of the season. In this final, the top 50 players will compete for the championship title and a large prize.

Last year, the famous golfer Rory McIlroy won the Race to Dubai title for a record sixth time. This shows how competitive and high-level the event is.

Rory McIlroy to Return for Abu Dhabi Event

Rory McIlroy, one of the most successful golfers in the world, has confirmed that he will take part in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship this year. McIlroy is well-known for winning all four of golf’s Grand Slam titles, making him one of the few players in history to do so.

His presence will make the Abu Dhabi tournament even more exciting for fans, as many people around the world follow his career closely.

UAE’s Growing Importance in Global Sports

The fact that the UAE is hosting both of these important playoff events shows how important the country has become in the world of sports. The UAE has already hosted many international tournaments, and its role in global golf continues to grow.

These golf tournaments also bring in visitors from around the world, helping to promote tourism and boost the economy. Hotels, restaurants, and local businesses all benefit from the increase in visitors during these big events.

Abu Dhabi's Commitment to World-Class Sports

Aref Hamad Al Awani, who is the Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, spoke about the importance of hosting the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for 20 years in a row. He said it is a major achievement for the capital city and a clear sign of Abu Dhabi’s commitment to sports.

He also explained that the championship has now become a key part of the DP World Tour Playoffs. Every year, the event attracts the world’s best golfers, which helps to make Abu Dhabi more famous in the sports world.

Yas Island – A Perfect Venue

According to Al Awani, holding the championship on Yas Island is part of a bigger plan to make Abu Dhabi a global sports destination. Yas Island is already popular for its entertainment options and world-class facilities. Hosting the golf tournament there will give both local people and international tourists a memorable experience.

He added that these types of events show how Abu Dhabi is working to give people exciting and high-quality sporting activities, and that it is part of the city’s vision for the future.

Dubai’s Global Sporting Reputation

Saeed Hareb, the Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council, also shared his views. He said the DP World Tour Championship is not just a golf event—it is one of the most important annual sporting events in Dubai. The tournament brings in media, visitors, and golf fans from all over the world.

He added that Dubai has become a favorite city for major sports events because of its excellent planning, modern venues, and warm hospitality. The DP World Tour Championship adds to this reputation and gives the world another reason to visit Dubai.

Economic and Tourism Benefits for UAE

Hosting these golf events is not only good for sports but also for the UAE’s economy and tourism industry. Thousands of tourists will travel to the country to watch these top-level tournaments. This helps hotels, travel companies, and local shops make more money.

Moreover, international coverage of the events on TV and the internet helps to promote the UAE’s image as a modern and active country. It shows the world that the UAE is a place where global sporting events can happen successfully.

A Bright Future for UAE Golf

With the 100-day countdown now underway, excitement is building for both the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship and the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. These events will bring together the best players, big crowds, and international media to celebrate the sport of golf in the UAE.

The country’s commitment to excellence, strong planning, and desire to be a global sports leader is clear. These tournaments are expected to be some of the best yet, helping the UAE shine even more on the global sporting map.
