UAE Urges Immediate Humanitarian Truce in Sudan Amid Crisis

Post by : Raina Al-Fahim

The United Arab Emirates has reaffirmed its strong support for regional and international efforts to establish an immediate humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire in Sudan, aiming to facilitate safe and timely delivery of aid to those affected by the ongoing conflict.

In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) condemned the widespread humanitarian violations and crimes committed against civilians in war-affected areas, including El Fasher. The ministry emphasized that deliberate targeting of civilians, residential neighborhoods, and critical facilities constitutes a serious breach of international humanitarian law and a violation of human and moral principles.

“These atrocities represent crimes against humanity and call for a united and decisive international response,” the statement said, highlighting the urgent need for global cooperation to address the humanitarian crisis in Sudan.

The UAE urged both the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to uphold their responsibilities in protecting civilians and to ensure the immediate, safe, and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid across all affected regions. The statement also underscored that uninterrupted humanitarian assistance is vital to mitigate the suffering of displaced populations and those living in conflict zones.

The UAE has consistently advocated for diplomatic efforts to resolve conflicts in the region while supporting international initiatives aimed at safeguarding civilian lives and providing essential humanitarian relief.

The call for a truce comes amid mounting international concern over the escalating conflict in Sudan, where thousands of civilians have been displaced, and critical infrastructure has been severely damaged. Humanitarian organizations have repeatedly warned of an urgent need for access to conflict zones to provide medical care, food, water, and shelter to affected populations.

By reinforcing its commitment to international humanitarian law and global peace efforts, the UAE continues to position itself as a proactive actor in supporting both immediate relief measures and long-term stability in Sudan.
