The United Arab Emirates celebrated its 54th Eid Al Etihad, reflecting on a year filled with significant advancements and international acknowledgment. During the Year of Community in 2025, the nation enhanced its standing as a formidable regional and global force, pushing forward in various social, technological, and humanitarian domains.
A Breakthrough Year in Space Exploration
In 2025, the UAE made impressive strides in space exploration, launching six satellites, including Thuraya 4, MBZ-SAT, AlainSat-1, HCT-SAT 1, and two more from the Foresight constellation, along with Etihad-SAT. Additionally, the Emirates Mission to the Asteroid Belt (EMA) reached its final design phase, showcasing the country's commitment to long-term interplanetary studies.
In collaboration with ICEYE, Space 42 successfully launched three SAR satellites—Foresight-3, Foresight-4, and Foresight-5—into low Earth orbit. The Mohamed bin Rashid Space Centre also completed the Rashid 2 rover for the Emirates Lunar Mission, reinforcing the UAE's status as a leader in regional space initiatives.
Empowering Women and Community Initiatives
The year 2025 further marked a significant rise in the empowerment of Emirati women. The UAE ranked first in the region and 13th globally in the UNDP’s Gender Inequality Index. Among the highlights, three Emirati women were appointed to the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders Council 2025, underlining the country’s commitment to developing leadership and talent.
The launch of the Mother of the Nation's 50:50 Vision rolled out vital initiatives across family, governance, and international partnerships, showcasing the UAE's dedication to inclusive development and social cohesion.
Housing Developments and Urban Growth
The UAE's focus on family stability was evident through various housing initiatives. The Sheikh Zayed Housing Programme approved 2,971 housing applications valued at AED2.07 billion, incorporating new financial aid for seniors.
In Abu Dhabi, 13 new residential communities were announced, set to create over 40,000 homes and plots for Emirati families, totaling an investment of AED106 billion. In Dubai, housing projects worth AED5.4 billion were introduced, alongside over 1,100 residential units at AED2 billion. Sharjah also allocated 3,500 plots for residential and investment use, ensuring broad housing access.
Strengthening Global Influence and Humanitarian Efforts
On the global stage, the UAE reinforced its position as an economic and humanitarian powerhouse. With strategic international partnerships and initiatives, the nation's influence has continued to expand, embodying a progressive vision for sustainable growth and diplomacy.
The 54th Eid Al Etihad not only celebrated unity but also showcased the UAE's achievements in space, social empowerment, housing, and global leadership, laying the groundwork for an innovative, stable, and prosperous future.
