UAE Denounces Israeli Settlers' Incursion at Al-Aqsa Mosque

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed strong condemnation regarding the incursion of Israeli settlers into Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyards, secured by Israeli police. This act, which included displaying the Israeli flag inside the mosque area, is viewed by the UAE as a significant provocation and an intolerable act of extremism.

In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE highlighted the necessity of maintaining the historical and legal status quo of Al-Aqsa Mosque. The ministry called for the safeguarding of all religious sites and underscored the importance of preserving their spiritual significance.

Additionally, the UAE reaffirmed its support for Jordan’s role over Al-Aqsa Mosque and showed solidarity with Jordan's efforts to protect both Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

Moreover, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held the Israeli authorities accountable for preventing such violations and called upon them to halt any activities that could exacerbate regional tension. The UAE cautioned that such provocations may escalate unrest and destabilize the area further.

The ministry reiterated the UAE's strong opposition to actions breaching international law, legitimate resolutions, and agreements concerning the Palestinian situation and the status of Jerusalem.

Finally, the UAE appealed to the international community to enhance efforts toward achieving a comprehensive and enduring peace in the region, emphasizing the critical need for an independent Palestinian state and a resolution through the internationally endorsed two-state solution.
