Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The UAE national cycling team ended its successful participation in the Arab Cycling Championship held in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, with a total of 17 medals. The team won 11 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze medals, marking one of their best performances in recent years. Their strong results reflect the UAE’s growing commitment to sports excellence and development in cycling across all categories.

Strong Performance in Road Races

On the final day of the championship, cyclist Abdullah Jassim stood out by winning the gold medal in the elite men’s road race. This win added to his earlier success in the individual time trial, giving him two gold medals in the tournament. His consistent performance demonstrated his determination, stamina, and tactical strength on the track.

Meanwhile, his teammate Ahmed Al Mansoori showed great effort and finished in third place, earning the bronze medal. His performance helped the UAE maintain a strong presence on the winners’ podium, confirming the team’s overall dominance in the road race category.

Junior Riders Show Great Promise

The UAE junior cyclists also achieved excellent results during the championship. Maadhed Al Mashghouni captured the gold medal in the junior road race, showing impressive talent and speed. His victory was a proud moment for the UAE’s cycling federation, which continues to invest in training and supporting young riders for international competitions.

The junior team as a whole performed well, securing the silver medal in the team classification. This result highlighted the depth of young talent within the UAE cycling program and the team’s teamwork and coordination during the event.

Senior Team Tops Overall Standings

At the team level, the UAE senior cyclists demonstrated consistent excellence by finishing first in the overall team standings. They outperformed strong competitors from Iraq and Jordan, securing the top spot in the championship rankings. This team success showed the UAE’s progress in becoming one of the leading cycling nations in the Arab region.

Their teamwork, preparation, and dedication played a key role in achieving this success. The UAE cycling federation’s focus on building a strong support system for its athletes has clearly paid off, as the team continues to achieve top results on regional and international stages.

Commitment to Cycling Growth

The UAE’s performance in Iraq reflects the country’s growing investment in cycling as a competitive sport. Under the guidance of national sports authorities and the UAE Cycling Federation, athletes receive advanced training and access to modern facilities. These efforts are aimed at improving performance levels and preparing riders to compete in global events.

The championship also provided valuable experience for both senior and junior cyclists, helping them learn from competition and strengthen their confidence. The UAE’s commitment to nurturing young talent is a clear sign of its vision for long-term sporting success.

Future Goals for the National Team

Following their impressive performance in the Arab Cycling Championship, the UAE team aims to continue their winning momentum in future international competitions. Plans are already underway to prepare for upcoming Asian and world events, where the cyclists hope to bring more medals home.

The UAE Cycling Federation remains dedicated to developing cycling culture in the country by organizing local races, promoting youth participation, and encouraging women’s involvement in the sport. This success in Sulaymaniyah marks another proud step toward achieving the UAE’s goal of becoming a regional leader in competitive cycling.

Celebration of National Pride

The 17-medal victory at the Arab Cycling Championship not only celebrates athletic achievement but also reflects the UAE’s national pride and unity. Each medal symbolizes the hard work, teamwork, and determination of the athletes, coaches, and federation officials who continue to raise the UAE’s flag high in international arenas.

With such strong performances, the UAE national cycling team has once again proven that dedication and teamwork lead to success, inspiring future generations to pursue excellence in sports.
