The UAE Gender Balance Council held its second meeting of 2025 at the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood headquarters. The meeting focused on reviewing what has been achieved so far this year to improve gender equality across different areas of national life. Members discussed how government entities are working together to ensure equal opportunities for both men and women.
Strengthening National Cooperation
The meeting followed the UAE Cabinet’s approval of the Council’s new members. This step aims to make cooperation between ministries and government bodies stronger and more effective. The Council’s updated structure allows for more focused discussions, better planning, and stronger teamwork in advancing gender balance. Members also shared updates on projects that will help include more women in key sectors.
Sheikha Manal Emphasises Unity and Progress
Her Highness Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said that all government entities must work together to achieve real progress. She explained that gender balance is not just a goal but an important part of national development. Sheikha Manal encouraged all institutions to turn ideas into measurable results through teamwork, innovation, and well-planned policies.
Promoting Equality and Inclusion
Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the Council, praised the strong coordination among ministries and institutions. She said the initiatives reviewed show how the UAE is committed to fairness, equal opportunities, and inclusive growth. Al Marri added that the Council continues to build international partnerships to share knowledge and improve gender equality both in the UAE and globally.
Ministries Share National Achievements
Several ministries presented updates on their gender balance projects. The Ministry of Economy highlighted how women are playing a growing role in the national economy through entrepreneurship and leadership. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation explained new policies that create flexible and equal workplaces. The Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood shared its achievements in supporting mothers and protecting children’s rights.
Council Reaffirms Commitment
Her Excellency Mouza Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the Council, said that the meeting showed how seriously the UAE takes gender equality. She noted that the Council will continue to follow global best practices and improve opportunities for women in all fields. She also stressed that these actions help make gender balance a key part of sustainable national growth.
Members agreed to keep working closely with all government bodies to ensure real and lasting progress. The Council will focus on using data to design effective policies and measure results. The goal is to make the UAE one of the most gender-balanced countries in the world, where both men and women can equally contribute to national success.
