UAE Unveils Pioneering AI Scholarship for Future Leaders

Post by : Bianca Haleem

In a bold move to enhance the UAE's stature as a frontrunner in technology, a new scholarship initiative has been unveiled to assist outstanding undergraduate students specializing in artificial intelligence at the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI). This programme aligns seamlessly with the nation’s future aspirations to lead in AI and technological advancements.

Launching in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Tahnoon bin Zayed Scholarship for AI Excellence will provide extensive assistance to exceptional students enrolled in MBZUAI’s Bachelor of Science in Artificial Intelligence programme. This initiative aims to cultivate a rich talent pool in AI, empowering young innovators to acquire skills that are crucial within the rapidly changing global tech landscape.

Over the upcoming six years, approximately 350 students are set to benefit from this meritocratic scholarship. Candidates will face a competitive selection process based on mathematical aptitude, leadership skills, and an entrepreneurial spirit. Scholars will not only receive complete financial support but will also have the chance to represent the UAE at significant global youth and technology events and access resources to launch their startup initiatives or tech projects.

The undergraduate courses at MBZUAI diverge from conventional AI degrees, integrating technical disciplines with humanities, business, and liberal arts to foster a more holistic understanding of responsible AI development. The programme is open to both UAE nationals and international students, positioning MBZUAI as an emerging global center for AI education.

Students will gain valuable hands-on experience through internships, industry placements, and mentorship opportunities with top technology firms. MBZUAI’s cutting-edge learning facilities—including advanced computational systems, intelligent classrooms, and dedicated innovation spaces—enhance the overall educational experience, equipping students to contribute significantly to the region’s burgeoning knowledge economy.

This scholarship symbolizes a substantial investment in fostering a new wave of innovators poised to propel technological advancements within the UAE and on a global scale.
