His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UOS), graced the Spring 2026 bachelor’s degree graduation ceremony at University City Hall on Sunday.
The event opened with the UAE national anthem, followed by a recitation from the Holy Quran. Professor Dr Issam Al-Din Ibrahim Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, welcomed attendees and expressed gratitude to His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for honoring the graduates.
In his address, Dr Ajami stressed the value of quality education, practical training, cultural diversity, and teamwork. He highlighted that UOS students hail from 100 different nationalities, which equips them with vital skills for collaboration and problem-solving in today’s diverse world.
Additionally, the Chancellor underlined the university’s achievements in international rankings. In the QS World University Rankings by Subject for 2026, UOS was recognized as one of the leading institutions in the UAE, with Petroleum Engineering ranked among the top 100 globally, and Chemical and Electrical Engineering securing spots among the top 200. Furthermore, the university received the 2026 Sports Excellence Shield, demonstrating its commitment to both academics and athletics.
Dr Ajami noted that the university’s cultural diversity mirrors the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, who founded UOS under the motto “Where Civilisations Meet.” He acknowledged His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for furthering this mission, establishing the university as a beacon of cultural inclusion and academic leadership.
The Chancellor congratulated graduates and their families, commending faculty and staff for their dedication to supporting students. He urged graduates to leverage their education and values to make meaningful contributions to society.
On behalf of the graduates, Thani Juma Khamis Al Shehi from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, expressed appreciation to His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi for prioritizing education in Sharjah’s development and for establishing UOS as a premier institution.
He also recognized His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for his ongoing commitment to fostering an environment conducive to excellence and innovation. Al Shehi thanked parents for their support and acknowledged the university’s initiatives for inclusivity for students with disabilities.
The ceremony featured a poetic recitation by Ahmed Salem Abdullah, a graduate from the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, celebrating the pivotal role of education in societal progression.
Concluding the ceremony, His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi awarded diplomas to 273 graduates across various bachelor's degree programs, encompassing fields from Sharia and Islamic Studies, to Engineering and Public Policy.
His Highness extended his congratulations to the graduates and wished them success in their future endeavors.
