UAE Weather Alert: Rain, Strong Winds and Rough Seas Expected

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

The UAE is set to experience several days of unstable weather, with rainfall, strong winds and rough sea conditions expected across parts of the country through the weekend, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said. Weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times, with convective clouds bringing rain over islands and coastal, northern, and eastern areas.

Businesses in logistics, construction, marine services, and outdoor operations are advised to prepare for possible disruptions due to reduced visibility and rough sea conditions. Moderate to fresh winds are expected today, causing blowing dust and sand, while sea conditions will range from moderate to rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea.

On Thursday, December 18, weather will become more unstable, with scattered rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and hail possible in some areas. Winds may shift from southeasterly to northwesterly, reaching speeds up to 60 km/h, with rough to very rough seas in the Arabian Gulf.

Friday, December 19, will see continued unstable conditions, lower temperatures, isolated rainfall, thunderstorms, and hail. Winds may reach 65 km/h, and the Arabian Gulf will experience rough to very rough seas, affecting marine transport and offshore work.

By Saturday, December 20, conditions are expected to ease slightly, but partly cloudy skies and convective clouds may still bring rain to northern and eastern regions. Winds will remain moderate to fresh, with rough seas in the Arabian Gulf.

On Sunday, December 21, weather is forecast to improve further, with partly cloudy skies, light rainfall over islands, coastal and western areas, and rising humidity overnight in some internal western regions. Sea conditions are expected to moderate, allowing safer marine activities.
