Venezuela's Earthquake Casualties Rise to 4,561

The toll from the devastating earthquakes that hit Venezuela last month has climbed to 4,561, as confirmed by Jorge Rodriguez, President of the National Assembly.

In a statement made on Monday, Rodriguez reported that the disaster left 16,740 individuals injured. Authorities are actively engaged in rescue and recovery efforts to assist numerous families impacted nationwide.

Emergency Aid for Thousands

The government has provided aid to 128,324 families affected by the earthquakes.

Furthermore, officials set up 107 temporary housing camps, currently sheltering 20,231 individuals. Additionally, 17,907 residents remain without permanent housing and require long-term solutions.

Extensive Damage to Infrastructure

The earthquakes resulted in significant devastation to properties and essential infrastructure in the impacted regions.

Rodriguez noted that 856 structures were affected, with 190 completely collapsed, underscoring the considerable extent of the disaster's damage.

Details on the June 24 Quakes

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that Venezuela experienced two powerful earthquakes on June 24, registering 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude.

These powerful quakes caused immense destruction, accounting for thousands of casualties and widespread displacement throughout the country.
