Vietnam Prepares for 2026 High School Graduation Exam

Post by : Shakul

Vietnam is embarking on comprehensive preparations for the 2026 High School Graduation Exam, a pivotal event in the academic calendar. This year poses new challenges, such as a nationwide implementation of a dual local government system, an increase in candidates, and heightened apprehensions about advanced cheating methods. Authorities nationwide are committed to ensuring the examination is executed safely, fairly, and in strict adherence to national guidelines.

In the northern mountainous region of Lao Cai, officials are adapting to new administrative frameworks triggered by local government restructuring. Close to 8,000 students are expected to participate in the exam across 24 testing centers and 352 examination rooms. Due to the rugged terrain, lengthy travel routes, and potential heavy rainfall, local authorities have devised specific emergency response plans to guarantee smooth operations throughout the exam period.

To tackle coordination issues following the abolition of district-level exam steering committees, Lao Cai has set up inter-communal support teams tasked with managing unforeseen incidents, such as power outages, severe weather, and transport disruptions. Local leadership has underscored the importance of maintaining stringent security measures and ensuring error-free logistics at every stage of the examination.

On another front, Vietnam's major cities, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, are grappling with the soaring number of candidates. Hanoi has over 129,000 students registered for the exam, necessitating the establishment of 222 examination centers and nearly 6,000 examination rooms, with 20,000 educators and staff mobilized for oversight.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the situation is even more critical, with approximately 142,000 candidates expected, marking a substantial rise compared to past years. The city has organized 156 examination centers and more than 3,800 rooms, deploying over 25,000 personnel to support examination logistics. Education officials have prepared for months, including facility evaluations, trial runs, and enhancing readiness to accommodate the unprecedented student numbers.

A key focus this year is combatting cheating, particularly through advanced technology. Education departments are collaborating with law enforcement to train exam supervisors in recognizing concealed communication devices and various high-tech tools that could disrupt examination integrity. Additional security protocols have been introduced at centers perceived as vulnerable.

In central Vietnam, the city of Hue has bolstered efforts to secure every element of the examination process. Authorities have surveyed paper printing facilities, surveillance setups, grading centers, and communication networks, while also preparing contingency plans for power, water supply, and internet access. Across the nation, local governments are united in their goal: to conduct the 2026 High School Graduation Examination seamlessly, securely, and transparently, enabling students to achieve this crucial milestone under optimal conditions.
