Fire Prompts Evacuation of 50 in Yishun HDB Flat

Post by : Shakul

In the early hours of April 13, approximately 50 residents were compelled to evacuate from an HDB flat in Yishun, Singapore, due to a fire that ignited in a second-floor unit in Block 510B, Yishun Street 51. The incident raised significant concerns regarding fire safety within residential areas.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) reported that they received an alert around 3 am. Fortunately, by the time firefighters arrived, nearby residents had already managed to extinguish the flames using a hose reel and a fire extinguisher.

As a precaution, emergency services evacuated around 50 individuals from the building. SCDF personnel and local police worked together to neutralize the threat and ensure that no danger remained.

One resident was taken to Singapore General Hospital for treatment. Authorities provided no specific details regarding the individual’s condition but confirmed that medical assistance was rendered.

Local MP Lee Hui Ying commended the courage of the residents who intervened, specifically recognizing Furzan and Razmi, along with Razmi's brother, for their actions in aiding a person trapped inside.

Officials expressed gratitude for the quick response from the community, highlighting that these efforts were crucial in preventing the situation from worsening. The SCDF plans to honor those who contributed to the rescue efforts.

Investigations are presently underway to determine the cause of the fire as officials continue to review the details surrounding the incident.
