ZAPoD and IDA Join Forces to Enhance Global Disability Advocacy

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The UAE has taken a significant step towards promoting inclusivity on a global scale. During the Second World Summit for Social Development in Doha, the Zayed Authority for People of Determination (ZAPoD) officially forged a partnership with the International Disability Alliance (IDA) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing international collaboration for the empowerment of People of Determination.

The MoU was signed by His Excellency Abdullah Abdulalee Al Humaidan, Director General of ZAPoD, alongside Dr. Nawaf Kabbara, President of IDA, in the presence of global representatives and experts gathered for the summit.

This agreement focuses on fostering knowledge sharing, training, research, and collaborative initiatives that advocate for disability inclusion. It underscores ZAPoD’s dedication to forming strategic partnerships that propel innovation and sustainability in societal empowerment.

A notable aspect of this collaboration is the promise of support for the Global Disability Summit 2028, providing both advisory and technical input. Additionally, discussions will also cover the feasibility of Abu Dhabi as the host for the Global Disability Summit 2031, positioning the UAE as a pivotal player in global inclusive development.

The partnership further includes plans for specialised workshops, side events during international conferences, and contributions to UN committees centred on disability rights. These initiatives are aimed at disseminating best practices and fostering equal opportunities globally.

This signing signifies a new chapter in the UAE’s commitment to enhancing social inclusion and generating impactful opportunities for People of Determination. Through this international collaboration, ZAPoD advances the UAE’s vision of a society where everyone can engage, contribute, and prosper.
