2026 SAG Awards Nominations: Leading Films and Shows in the Spotlight

2026 SAG Awards Nominations: Leading Films and Shows in the Spotlight

Post by : Meena Hassan

The nominations for the 2026 Screen Actors Guild Awards, previously known as the SAG Awards since their renaming in January 2025, have been unveiled, showcasing films and TV series expected to contend for accolades at the Academy Awards. Winners will be determined by SAG-AFTRA members, making these awards a critical predictor for the Oscars.

In the race for Best Movie Cast, two standout films will challenge the likes of the Shakespeare-rooted drama Hamnet, the sports drama Marty Supreme, and the Gothic sci-fi piece Frankenstein.

Leonardo DiCaprio has earned a nod for his portrayal of Bob in One Battle After Another. Michael B. Jordan has been recognized for his dual role as twin brothers Smoke and Stack Moore in Sinners, while Jessie Buckley is nominated for her performance as Agnes Hathaway in Hamnet. These artists are among this season's top competitors.

In television categories, the dark comedy The White Lotus faces strong competitors including The Pitt, a medical drama, and the psychological thriller Severance. The culinary comedy The Bear also received a nomination, alongside The Studio, Abbott Elementary, and Hacks. The Emmy-winning limited series Adolescence has garnered several nods, underscoring its acclaim.

The awards ceremony is slated for March 1, 2026, and will be live-streamed on Netflix, allowing global audiences to follow the winners' announcements.

Last year, the announcement of nominees was postponed due to significant wildfires in Los Angeles, with nominations shared online instead. During the recent announcement, SAG-AFTRA President Sean Astin acknowledged the anniversary of the wildfires and their lasting effect on the community.

The SAG Awards remain a crucial indicator for Oscar predictions, celebrating excellence in film and television artistry.
