Thailand Set to Enhance Tourism with 2027 Budget

Post by : Shakul

Natthariya Thaweewong, the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, convened a critical meeting in Bangkok to strategize the budget for 2027. The discussion emphasized leveraging tourism and sports to aid economic growth while enhancing the lifestyles of individuals, particularly in local areas.

Senior officials from various departments participated, joining both in-person and virtually to ensure wider engagement and idea sharing. Central to the conversation was the creation of a budget focusing on beneficial projects while minimizing unnecessary expenditures.

Attendees underscored the necessity of prudent fund management; emphasizing that each budget segment must provide tangible benefits to the populace and contribute to national progress. They aimed to guarantee effective resource utilization without waste.

One key initiative presented was the “Community Plus” policy, aimed at uplifting local communities by boosting incomes through tourism and sporting activities. It also seeks to enhance living conditions and generate job opportunities at the community level.

As part of this initiative, the government is set to train volunteers in tourism and sports across Thailand’s 77 provinces. These volunteers will serve as local ambassadors, guiding tourists, promoting native culture, and fostering regional tourism growth.

Officials also highlighted the necessity for improved coordination among various departments, ensuring that national, regional, and local strategies are aligned for optimal results.

In addition, enhancing the role of tourist assistance personnel was a key focus, as these staff will engage closely with local communities to bolster safety, resolve issues swiftly, and build trust between tourists and residents.

The meeting concluded with a focus on refining tourism planning to align with local development needs, ensuring that proposed plans are inclusive and tailored to the specific necessities of each region.

Ultimately, the government expressed optimism about the significant role tourism and sports can play in bolstering the economy. Through careful planning, collaboration, and resource stewardship, Thailand envisions more opportunities, higher incomes, and an enhanced quality of life for its citizens.
