Abu Dhabi has reaffirmed its leadership in smart and autonomous technologies with the launch of the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Week (ADAW) 2025. Over a span of six days, the emirate attracted more than 15,000 participants from around the world, bringing together policymakers, investors, innovators, and researchers to delve into pioneering autonomous solutions for land, sea, and air mobility.
The event comprised four significant segments: the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, DRIFTx, RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) 2025, and the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League (A2RL). Each segment featured groundbreaking innovations aimed at transforming industries, improving mobility, and accelerating the rollout of autonomous systems.
During the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Summit, 400 leaders from both national and international spheres convened to discuss policy frameworks, safety measures, and regulatory needs for autonomous technologies. Highlights included the announcement of integrating Tensor Auto’s Level 4 Robocars into the emirate’s transportation infrastructure, as well as the launch of Abu Dhabi’s inaugural vertiport network dedicated to eVTOL operations. Several strategic partnerships were inked in areas like autonomous logistics, smart ports, fleet automation, and advanced aerial mobility alongside global entities such as Archer Aviation, Aramex, and ADNOC.
DRIFTx, held at the Yas Marina Circuit, provided an engaging platform where attendees could witness live demonstrations of technologies in action. Visitors interacted with autonomous robotaxis, humanoid robots, eVTOLs, autonomous boats, and last-mile delivery systems. Collaborations with Uber and WeRide allowed participants to experience rides in self-driving vehicles, while robotics breakthroughs from K2 and MOTON underscored Abu Dhabi’s prowess in applied research.
RoboCup Asia-Pacific 2025, hosted by Khalifa University, drew in over 700 participants from 166 teams spanning 22 countries. Various competitions showcased humanoid soccer, disaster-response robots, autonomous rescue drones, and sustainable AI solutions, further solidifying the emirate’s role as a key center for AI and robotics talent.
The event reached its zenith with the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Racing League, where a historic Grand Final featured six fully automated race cars. The AI-powered vehicles achieved lap times that almost rivaled human drivers, emphasizing the safety and accuracy of autonomous systems under high-pressure conditions. Participating teams hailed from Germany, Italy, and the UAE, marking a significant advancement in autonomous motorsports.
ADAW 2025 exemplified Abu Dhabi’s dedication to converting ambitious technological dreams into practical solutions. Through strategic collaborations, live demonstrations, and a cross-sector approach, the emirate is fostering a sustainable ecosystem where autonomous technology is actively shaping the future.
