Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has reached a major research milestone, publishing over 5,000 Scopus-indexed research papers in journals, international conferences, and book chapters. This achievement reflects the university’s rapid growth into a high-impact, research-focused institution.
Aligned with its mission to address global challenges, 1,541 publications are linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), covering health, clean energy, sustainable cities, and climate action. These works have received nearly 64,000 citations, highlighting ADU’s global influence.
Following its Vision 2027, ADU has strengthened interdisciplinary research and innovation. Around 80.5% of papers are published in Q1 and Q2 journals, with 28% in the top 10% globally. The university’s average Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI) is 3.74, well above the global benchmark.
International collaboration is a key focus, with 67.5% of publications co-authored with partners in North America, Europe, and the Far East. ADU’s research also influences policy, with 155 publications cited in policy documents, generating 797 policy citations.
Innovation is another highlight, with 33 patents granted and over 60 filed with the USPTO, reflecting efforts to translate research into practical solutions and commercial applications.
Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of ADU, said:
"This milestone shows our rapid progress in building a strong research ecosystem that values quality, global collaboration, and real-world impact."
ADU’s research spans AI, engineering, health sciences, sustainability, business, and social sciences, boosting its role as a regional and global knowledge hub. Several ADU professors are also recognized in Stanford University’s Top 2% Most Cited Scientists list, demonstrating sustained international recognition.
Professor Montasir Qasymeh, Associate Provost for Research, added:
"Our success is not just in numbers, but in quality, collaboration, and societal impact, driving scientific progress, policies, and real-world solutions."
ADU continues to expand international partnerships, strengthen interdisciplinary research, and focus on innovation and commercialization, reinforcing its position as a leading research university in the UAE and beyond.
