ADU Tops Arab Rankings with Strong Teaching and Research

Post by : Mariam Al-Faris

Abu Dhabi University (ADU) has marked a major achievement in the Times Higher Education (THE) Arab University Rankings 2026, moving up seven places to secure the 7th position among universities in 18 Arab countries. This impressive rise reflects the university’s consistent focus on quality education, research, and innovation.

In the UAE, ADU now ranks among the top three universities, climbing one position compared to last year. The university’s strong performance highlights its growing influence in the national and regional higher education landscape.

ADU excelled in several key performance pillars in the rankings. It achieved the 1st position nationally in Teaching, showcasing the university’s dedication to providing high-quality instruction and student-focused learning experiences. Additionally, ADU secured 2nd place in Research Environment, reflecting its commitment to fostering a productive research culture and supporting faculty and student research initiatives.

Professor Ghassan Aouad, Chancellor of Abu Dhabi University, expressed pride in this accomplishment, saying, “This achievement reflects our unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality education and advancing impactful research that supports the UAE’s knowledge economy. Climbing seven places in the Arab region is a significant step forward, inspiring us to continue enhancing our curricula and empowering the next generation of leaders and innovators.”

This year’s THE Arab University Rankings included 268 universities, up from 238 last year, increasing competition among institutions. Despite this, ADU maintained an upward trajectory, demonstrating its strength across teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and international outlook. The ranking system provides a comprehensive assessment of universities’ performance and impact, making ADU’s success even more significant.

ADU improved its standing in four out of the five performance pillars, showing its holistic approach to education. The university continues to emphasize innovation, research, and international engagement, ensuring students receive globally recognized education while preparing them for leadership roles.

The university’s success not only highlights its commitment to academic excellence but also reinforces its contribution to the UAE’s knowledge economy. By excelling in research and teaching, ADU helps build a skilled workforce and supports the country’s vision for a globally competitive education sector.

THE Arab University Rankings 2026 provide an authoritative measure of research-intensive universities across the Arab region. ADU’s upward movement in these rankings reflects its strategic focus on improving education quality, promoting research, and preparing students to become innovators and professionals in various fields.

This accomplishment reinforces ADU’s mission to provide high-quality, globally recognized education, while inspiring faculty and students to aim for greater achievements in the coming years. With its consistent progress, Abu Dhabi University continues to set benchmarks for excellence in teaching, research, and holistic student development across the Arab region.
