Under the chairmanship of Her Highness Sheikha Shamsa bint Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, the Design Commission Abu Dhabi (DCAD) has launched the “One Nation. One People” initiative, a new community-driven programme aimed at strengthening unity across the UAE.
The initiative is inspired by the UAE’s Year of Family values and reflects a strong message that people from different backgrounds live together as one extended family. It highlights how citizens and residents share everyday spaces such as schools, workplaces, and neighbourhoods, building a deep sense of belonging and mutual respect.
The programme encourages participation from institutions, schools, companies, and community groups across Abu Dhabi. It aims to create a shared moment that celebrates the connections between people living in the country.
Many government bodies, private sector partners, educational institutions, and community organisations have already shown support for the initiative. Their involvement is helping expand its reach across workplaces, schools, and social networks throughout Abu Dhabi.
As part of the initiative, several community activities will be organised. These include a portrait series showcasing citizens and residents working together in different sectors, short videos sharing personal stories and values, and coordinated participation events across various institutions.
A key focus of the programme is youth engagement. Schools and educational institutions will play an important role in promoting values such as respect, belonging, and shared responsibility among the younger generation.
The Board of the Design Commission Abu Dhabi, chaired by Sheikha Shamsa, includes Nadine Maalouf as Executive Vice Chairwoman and Rana Kuzayli El Khoury as Undersecretary, along with other board and advisory members.
Through the “One Nation. One People” initiative, DCAD aims to use design and community engagement to bring people closer, celebrate diversity, and strengthen social bonds across the UAE.
