KABUL: Afghanistan's Taliban-led government has urged the United States to act responsibly when deporting Afghan immigrants back to their home country. The Afghan Foreign Ministry made the request in an official statement on Monday, November 2, 2026, while expressing Kabul's willingness to engage constructively with Washington on the issue.
The Afghan Foreign Ministry said that the Afghan side was prepared to work with the United States while considering the existing situation and the legitimate interests of both countries. Kabul emphasised the importance of mutual understanding and constructive engagement in addressing the return of Afghan nationals.
The development follows reports that US President Donald Trump's administration is planning to deport some Afghan immigrants to Afghanistan. A US official and a coalition of veterans and advocacy organisations confirmed the plan on Friday, according to Reuters.
According to a report by The New York Times, more than 150 Afghan immigrants are expected to face deportation. The first flight was reportedly expected as early as Monday, November 2. However, the exact departure arrangements and final number of people involved were not detailed in the supplied report.

The planned deportations are expected to take place through Pakistan because Washington does not have diplomatic relations with the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan. This limits the United States' ability to arrange direct deportation flights to Afghanistan.
In its statement, the Afghan Foreign Ministry also warned against using citizens of another country as bargaining tools. It said third countries should not treat foreign nationals as a means of securing limited temporary concessions or other benefits.
Kabul has indicated that it is willing to discuss the issue with the United States through dialogue and mutual understanding. The statement highlights Afghanistan's position that the return of its citizens should be handled through responsible arrangements that consider the interests of both sides.
