Director Amar Kaushik has shed light on the increasing speculation surrounding Alia Bhatt's possible entry into the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) with its latest film, Chamunda.
In response to whether Alia Bhatt is in Chamunda, Amar stated,
“Everything is on the timeline. When it happens, everyone will know. I am neither confirming nor denying anything at this stage. Our focus is on the story first, and casting comes later. We don't draft scripts based on who we cast.”
He reiterated that within MHCU, storytelling is prioritized over star power. “Fortunately, that’s not the case here,” he noted.
MHCU Aiming to “Raise Expectations” for Audiences
Kaushik assured fans that the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe is advancing with each new project.
“The audience can anticipate an elevated experience with forthcoming films. We create these for the fans and everyone affected. If we err, please inform us via Instagram or any other platform,” he mentioned.
He also highlighted the importance of staying true to their vision:
“We aim to avoid dilution. We aspire to maintain authenticity, akin to what we did with Stree. Our goal is to deliver what audiences desire.”
About the Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU)
The Maddock Horror Comedy Universe kicked off with Amar Kaushik’s 2018 hit Stree, featuring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. The franchise has grown with closely linked films like Bhediya, Munjya, Stree 2, and the recent Thamma.
The newest addition, Thamma, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, includes stars like Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Co-produced by Amar Kaushik and Dinesh Vijan, the MHCU continues its growth with future titles such as Shakti Shalini starring Aneet Padda and Bhediya 2, featuring Varun Dhawan.
Upcoming Projects for Alia Bhatt
In the meantime, Alia Bhatt is engaged with a diverse array of high-profile films. She will next appear in YRF’s spy thriller Alpha, directed by Shiv Rawail, alongside Sharvari Wagh. Alia portrays a leader of an elite all-women combat unit, with a release set for December 25.
Additionally, she will share the screen with Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War — a grand period romance that marks a reunion for Bhatt and Kapoor following their previous project, Brahmastra.
