Amitabh Bachchan Commends Agastya Nanda After Ikkis Trailer Release

Post by : Meena Hassan

Veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan has publicly expressed pride for his grandson Agastya Nanda as the young actor prepares for his big-screen debut in the war drama Ikkis. Directed by Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, the film’s trailer premiered today and drew positive reactions from audiences and peers.

Amitabh Bachchan’s Note

Shortly after the trailer dropped, Amitabh Bachchan used X (formerly Twitter) to post a personal message. In it he reflected on Agastya’s early childhood and conveyed his happiness at the actor’s entry into cinema.

He recalled holding Agastya as a newborn and later remembering small, tender moments from his infancy. Bachchan described Agastya as special, offered his blessings and prayers, and wished that his grandson’s work bring pride to the family.

The post prompted a flood of congratulatory responses online, with many users calling the message one of the most heartfelt endorsements from a grandparent to a debuting performer.

Family Support and Pride

Agastya’s father, businessman Nikhil Nanda, also posted his feelings on Facebook. He said some moments leave one speechless with pride and that watching the Ikkis trailer filled him with pride both as a parent and as an Indian.

Nikhil praised Agastya’s portrayal of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal (PVC), calling it a moving tribute to courage and the nation’s spirit, and extended best wishes to Agastya, director Sriram Raghavan, and the film’s team.

These family messages underline the support surrounding Agastya as he transitions into mainstream cinema.

Ikkis, directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, dramatizes the true story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, an army officer noted for his bravery during the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

Arun Khetarpal was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his actions in the Battle of Basantar, where he continued to engage the enemy despite severe injuries. His sacrifice at age 21 is remembered as a defining act of valor in India’s military history.

Agastya Nanda takes on the demanding lead role, marking his first theatrical appearance after his digital debut in The Archies. The trailer highlights his physical and emotional transformation as he embodies a young soldier’s courage and vulnerability.

The Cast and Crew

The film’s ensemble includes veteran actors such as Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat. Produced by Maddock Films, Ikkis has drawn attention for its high-profile cast and production values.

Sriram Raghavan, known for films like Andhadhun and Badlapur, brings his signature attention to detail and narrative depth to this wartime biopic, positioning Ikkis among the year’s most anticipated releases.

Strong Response to the Trailer

The trailer has generated notable buzz, with viewers commending its visuals, stirring moments, and impactful dialogue. Critics have observed that Agastya’s performance reads as sincere and composed, hinting at a strong debut.

Commentary has also praised the film’s cinematography and production design for recreating the 1971 battlefield environment, while the score has been noted for heightening the film’s emotional weight.

A Promising Debut for Agastya Nanda

Agastya, grandson of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan and great-grandson of Raj Kapoor, enters this project with a notable film lineage. Industry observers say Ikkis provides him an opportunity to establish his individual credentials through a demanding performance.

Following The Archies, this role represents a marked shift towards dramatic intensity. Insiders suggest a strong showing in Ikkis could firmly position Agastya among the most promising newcomers.

Ikkis is scheduled for theatrical release in December 2025. Slated for the festive season, the film aims to reach wide audiences with its blend of a real-life heroic narrative, seasoned cast, and Raghavan’s direction.

As Agastya Nanda prepares for this pivotal screen role, Amitabh Bachchan’s message captures the family’s pride and the wider interest in a debut that ties personal legacy to national history.
