On Wednesday, November 5, veteran actor Anupam Kher, 70, travelled to Amritsar’s Golden Temple to offer prayers and observe the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
Posting a short video on his social accounts, Kher conveyed his greetings to followers and extended best wishes on the occasion of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s birth anniversary.
Guru Nanak Jayanti honors the 15th-century founder of Sikhism and is marked by devotional prayers, processions and communal meals known as ‘langars’. The observance emphasizes Guru Nanak’s teachings of service, equality and devotion to one God. The day is a public holiday in several states, including Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Jharkhand and West Bengal.
Earlier, Kher had also celebrated Shah Rukh Khan’s 60th birthday by recreating a Mohabbatein-era look and praising Khan’s energy and achievements. Shah Rukh responded appreciatively, recalling shared memories; Kher has often portrayed a father figure opposite Khan in films such as Veer-Zaara, Mohabbatein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
