The 15th General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) concluded in Jeddah after five days of important meetings hosted by Saudi Arabia through the General Court of Audit (GCA). Leaders from audit institutions across 22 Arab countries, along with regional and international experts, took part in the event. During the assembly, several major decisions were approved to strengthen governance, improve efficiency, and support the development of audit bodies in member states. One of the key outcomes was confirming Saudi Arabia’s second term as Chair of the Governing Board, allowing the Kingdom to continue hosting all ARABOSAI meetings until 2028. These decisions are expected to help raise the quality of audit work and increase its positive impact across the region.
The assembly also featured the 69th and 70th Governing Board meetings, where members reviewed progress on ARABOSAI’s strategic plan. Various committees submitted their reports, which led to important decisions supporting their future projects and activities. A technical symposium was held alongside the meetings, showcasing best practices in capacity building and sharing real-life examples from different Arab audit institutions. The focus of the discussions was on enhancing training programs, improving professional skills, and ensuring stronger performance within national audit bodies.
A significant highlight of the event was the presentation of the Peer Review Report by GCA President Dr. Hussam Alangari to the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan. The report assessed the chamber’s compliance with international audit standards, reflecting the ongoing efforts to promote transparency and high-quality audit practices. The assembly also witnessed the graduation of 20 auditors from the Certified Arab Auditor Fellowship Program, one of the key initiatives led by the GCA to prepare well-qualified professionals in the field of auditing.
The meetings concluded with discussions on strengthening cooperation among Arab Supreme Audit Institutions and expanding the exchange of expertise. Members emphasized the importance of turning all recommendations and results into practical actions that support better governance, transparency, and stronger institutional performance across the Arab region. With the renewed commitment of member states, ARABOSAI aims to advance auditing standards and enhance the overall effectiveness of oversight work in the coming years.
