UAE Praised for Humanitarian Aid to Gaza by Arab Parliament

The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, has expressed deep appreciation for the humanitarian and relief efforts carried out by the United Arab Emirates to assist the people of Gaza. He noted that the UAE continues to stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people during their time of need, providing vital support through Operation Chivalrous Knight 3. This initiative has become one of the largest humanitarian operations in the region, reflecting the UAE’s consistent commitment to humanitarian principles and regional solidarity.

During the plenary session of the Arab Parliament’s second ordinary session of the fourth legislative term, held at the Arab League headquarters, Al Yamahi highlighted one of the UAE’s most significant recent projects. The UAE has successfully implemented the largest water desalination supply initiative from Egypt to southern Gaza. This major project, part of Operation Chivalrous Knight 3, is providing much-needed desalinated water to around 600,000 people affected by the crisis in Gaza. The project demonstrates the UAE’s focus on long-term and sustainable humanitarian support rather than short-term aid alone.

The Speaker also expressed appreciation for the joint efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and Türkiye in facilitating the recent Gaza ceasefire agreement. He stated that the agreement reached in Sharm El Sheikh marked a significant step toward restoring calm in the region and laying the groundwork for reconstruction. Al Yamahi said that peace and reconstruction go hand in hand, and these developments offer hope to the people of Gaza who have endured years of hardship. He emphasised that regional cooperation is essential to ensuring lasting peace and rebuilding the war-torn areas.

Reiterating the central position of the Palestinian cause, Al Yamahi reaffirmed that it remains the foremost and core issue of the Arab world. He stressed that a just and comprehensive peace can only be achieved by ending the Israeli occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds (Jerusalem) as its capital. According to him, peace efforts must always remain guided by international law, justice, and respect for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

Al Yamahi urged all countries and international organisations to participate actively in the international conference on Gaza reconstruction to be held in Egypt in November. He explained that the conference would provide an important platform to coordinate humanitarian aid, reconstruction efforts, and investment in Gaza’s future. He also underlined the necessity of holding Israel accountable for its actions before international courts to ensure justice for victims and adherence to global humanitarian laws.

The Speaker further commended the continuous efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its leadership in supporting the International Conference for the implementation of the Two-State Solution. He mentioned that Saudi Arabia’s diplomatic initiatives have helped strengthen international recognition of the State of Palestine. Al Yamahi noted that such support plays a critical role in keeping the Palestinian issue high on the global agenda and in mobilising collective action for peace.

In his concluding remarks, Al Yamahi emphasised that the current phase requires a unified Arab, Islamic, and international response to back Gaza’s reconstruction and reaffirm support for the Palestinian cause. He said that solidarity among nations is essential not only for rebuilding the physical infrastructure of Gaza but also for restoring hope, stability, and dignity to its people. The Speaker’s appeal echoed the Arab Parliament’s long-standing stance that humanitarian efforts must go hand in hand with diplomatic and political initiatives to achieve lasting peace and development in the region.
