Arab Podcast Program Begins with Intensive Training in Dubai

Post by : Bianca Haleem

The third edition of the Arab Podcast Program, organised by the Dubai Press Club (DPC), has officially commenced with an intensive first week of training aimed at helping participants transform creative ideas into professional podcast projects. The opening phase focused on building strong concepts, developing unique podcast identities, and equipping aspiring creators with the essential skills needed to produce compelling Arabic audio content.

Designed as a comprehensive learning experience, the first week combined theoretical knowledge with practical workshops, giving participants hands-on exposure to every stage of podcast planning. The initial phase, titled "Conceptualisation and Identity Creation," laid the foundation for creating podcasts that connect with audiences through original ideas, engaging storytelling, and consistent branding.

Building Strong Podcast Concepts

Participants explored the fundamentals of podcast production, beginning with how to identify meaningful topics, define target audiences, and establish a clear editorial direction. The training also covered creating a podcast's visual and audio identity, helping participants shape projects that stand out in an increasingly competitive digital media landscape.

The programme featured sessions led by renowned industry professionals, including:

  • Charbel Issa, Customer Success Manager and Certified Trainer at Podeo
  • Chantal Saliba, Director of Media & Training at IMI Media Academy
  • Rahaf Khaled Al Halabi, Certified Voice Performance and Public Speaking Specialist
  • Mohammed Abdulaziz, Visual Artist and Expert in Logo and Visual Identity Design

These experts shared practical insights and industry knowledge, enabling participants to refine their podcast concepts while learning best practices from experienced professionals.

Workshops Covered Every Stage of Podcast Development

One of the key workshops, "Introduction to Podcasting – Concept Development and Identity Building," introduced participants to the evolution of podcasting, selecting suitable topics, identifying audiences, and creating distinctive podcast identities. The session also demonstrated how simple ideas can be developed into scalable podcast concepts with long-term potential.

Another session, "From Idea to Script: Steps to Build a Podcast Episode," guided participants through researching topics, writing engaging scripts, editing content, and structuring complete podcast episodes from opening to conclusion. The workshop emphasised producing clear, informative, and audience-focused episodes.

Focus on Storytelling, Voice and Presentation Skills

The programme also placed significant emphasis on communication skills through specialised workshops such as "The Art of Storytelling," "Building Your Vocal Signature," and "Online Charisma." These sessions helped participants improve their storytelling abilities, strengthen vocal performance, and build confidence while presenting content in front of microphones and cameras.

Participants learned techniques to create authentic audience connections through effective narration, voice modulation, and professional on-camera communication.

Creating a Distinct Visual Brand

Another important workshop, "How to Create a Defining Visual Identity for Your Podcast," focused on branding and visual communication. Participants were introduced to the principles of logo design, colour selection, typography, episode artwork creation, and promotional templates to establish a consistent visual presence across digital platforms.

The training highlighted the importance of visual identity in increasing podcast recognition and audience engagement across social media and streaming platforms.

Dubai Press Club Highlights Importance of Strong Foundations

Maryam Al Mulla, Director of the Dubai Press Club, said the first week demonstrated the importance of building strong creative foundations before moving into production and publishing.

She explained that the programme focuses on developing original concepts, unique podcast identities, and authentic voices, which are essential for creating podcasts capable of making a lasting impact on audiences.

Al Mulla added that strengthening participants' storytelling and presentation skills remains one of the programme's primary objectives, ensuring they gain a comprehensive understanding of every stage involved in podcast production.

She also praised the enthusiasm shown by participants, noting that many have presented promising ideas with significant potential for further development. According to Al Mulla, the coming weeks will focus on refining these concepts into fully developed, production-ready podcast projects that contribute to the growth of high-quality Arabic digital content.

Hands-On Learning Builds Confidence

Wedad Kahoor, Section Head of Media Talent Development at the Dubai Press Club, said the opening week was designed to provide participants with practical opportunities to test and improve their ideas through interactive exercises and direct collaboration with trainers.

She noted that the combination of editorial, audio, and visual training has helped participants develop a clearer vision for their projects while strengthening their confidence before entering the production stage.

Next Phase Focuses on Production and Publishing

The Arab Podcast Program will continue over the next two weeks with advanced workshops dedicated to technical podcast production, recording techniques, editing, publishing strategies, and digital promotion.

The programme will conclude with participants presenting their completed podcast projects to a panel of industry experts, who will evaluate the final productions based on creativity, technical quality, storytelling, and audience impact.

By combining expert mentorship, practical training, and professional guidance, the Dubai Press Club aims to nurture the next generation of Arabic podcast creators while supporting the continued growth of innovative digital media across the region.
